Seismic Project, Part 5 (clean up and etc.)

This truck with a camper like apparatus on the back is called

the "doghouse" and seemed to be a center of operations. (The cables fed

readings to the computers that were in the doghouse.)
For the first part of the project, it was parked down at Chandlers.

Then early one Sunday morning, it was moved across the road to the

"hog pasture." This meant a lot of activity through the yard

across the road. There is a very bright light on the top of the

doghouse that is on night and day. It was shining toward the east.

When they started to retrieve the bundles of cables, the

helicopter did a lot of the pick ups. It touched down at the top

of our driveway, just to the east.

And he's off again!



These "thumper/vibrator" trucks went along the cable lines, and
stopped to vibrate the ground at intervals. I was really hoping for a good

picture of them on our land, but it was dark when they were in front of
our place! So, this picture is after the project was finished, and they
were headed back down the road. For some reason they stopped here
on the road, and all the drivers got out and ran around to the back of
their rigs to do something. At least it gave me a chance to get a picture!!

Here's a single thumper truck when the project first started.

The walking crews (line crew walkers) were transported in two of these Surburbans. They came along and picked up the lines of cable. They had quite a method of tossing them up and around their neck and shoulders, and carried that weight until they got to the "bundle bags."

The last thing to go from our land was a stake in the driveway with a pink streamer. And as quickly as all the traffic arrived, they departed again. It seemed quiet!
